A Sweet Book.......2007-05-26
I began reading books about pet loss just days after losing my beloved EmmyLee, a 14 year old mixed terrier.
Some books seem clinical. This was rather sweet. I didn't get much from it till the last few chapters. It is possible that my frame of mind just wasn't in it, but towards the end, I couldn't put it down.
It does help.
Highly recommended for every pet "guardian".......2007-05-15
I bought this book 6 months ago in dreaded preparation of the inevitable. On May 12th, 2007, we euthanized our beloved 13-year old cat, Kyra. She was the oldest of our family of five cats and is greatly missed.
Yes, we have four other cats but as any pet guardian knows, each and every animal is unique and we love each one independently and unconditionally. They are our family.
I took this book with us to the animal hospital and read one of the selections in the back before Kyra was euthanized. After I assisted with Kyra's transition, I had to learn how to handle my own emotions as well as my husband's. How were my other cats going to handle it? I felt lost and the pain was so great. After spending the next 30+ hours crying off and on and grieving, I picked up this book and read it cover to cover. Rev. Kowalski's words immediately gave me comfort in knowing we did what was right and responsible for Kyra. She knew it was her time and we respected that. She gave us such joy and love. Our grief will take time to heal and there will undoubtedly be more crying, but mixed with our tears will be smiles and fond memories of the wonderful cat that shared our lives.
I highly recommend this book to any pet guardian. The chapters are short, to the point and powerful in their messages. It gave me all the answers I was looking for. I hope it helps you as it helped me and my family.
Goodbye, Friend.......2007-03-27
This is a book of love for animals and gives comfort to those who have lost their pets. The author has spent a great deal of time interviewing those who have gone through the trauma of losing a beloved pet as he has experienced great losses himself. For those looking for a book that deals with the pain of a loss, I would recommend it.
For friends of all species and sizes.......2007-01-16
I've never written a review, but am compelled to rate this book in the hope that it will touch someone else who is in my situation. I highly recommend this book for anyone dealing with the loss of a pet, no matter what type of pet they may have. I had my friend of 6 years, my guinea pig Creampuff, euthanized yesterday. Because she was such a small animal, I felt embarassed about how deeply I'm hurting for her and didn't think that others would understand why I'm in pain. This book helped me accept my sadness and reinforced that I'm not alone in grieving for my pet, even a pet as little as she was. Mr. Kowalski is comforting and empathetic without being falsely sentimental or using empty cliches, as some books on grief tend to do. The range of animals pictured in the book, from gerbils and ducks to dogs and horses (and even a guinea pig), reflect Mr. Kowalksi's message that no person's pet-loss grief is insignificant. Many books deal with the loss of larger animals such as cats and dogs, but this book is truly written with owners of all animals in mind.
When your beloved pet dies..........2006-11-04
When my husband took our beloved Golden Retriever, Taffy Jo, to her vet to be treated for an unexpected heartworm infection, we never expected she wouldn't live to come home. This book helped us find a bit of psychological peace in such an incredibly heartbreaking situation, not only by its existence confirming that other human animal lovers have grieved as deeply over the loss of their pets, too, but also by offering some suggestions with how to cope with your feelings of anger, sorrow, guilt, etc. We're glad to have found the supportive words of this book at a time when we felt so otherwise alone in a grief that not all people understand as they feel it should be reserved for humans only.

Ever since the night that deputy White House counselor Vincent Foster was found dead in a Washington, D.C., park, conspiracy theories about his death have abounded. Everyone from evangelist Jerry Falwell to talk-show host Rush Limbaugh has weighed in with his or her own version of events: Foster was murdered; his body was moved; the investigation into his death became a giant cover-up. Christopher Ruddy, a reporter for the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, a paper owned by conservative Richard Scaife, has entered the fray with The Strange Death of Vincent Foster.
As Ruddy goes over the evidence, it becomes increasingly clear that the initial investigative work by the park police and the FBI was mishandled--evidence was poorly collected and documented, the autopsy was hardly comprehensive, and eyewitness accounts differed drastically. In addition, the role of White House counsel Bernard Nussbaum in obstructing the police search of Foster's office and belongings was undoubtedly out of line. Do shoddy police work and overzealous political posturing add up to a vast governmental conspiracy? Ruddy suggests they do; readers of The Strange Death of Vincent Foster may or may not reach the same conclusion.
Book Description
On a humid July day in 1993, White House deputy counsel Vincent W. Foster was found dead in Fort Marcy Park in suburban Virginia. One of the nation's highest-ranking federal officers, Foster was a boyhood friend of President Bill Clinton and a close confidant of First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton. His death sent shock waves through the White House and the nation's capital.
The death was quickly pronounced a suicide. According to the official story that soon emerged, Foster was depressed, angry, and isolated. With nowhere else to turn, he went to a secluded park near the Potomac River, put a gun in his mouth, and killed himself.
But is that what really happened?
In this compelling and fully documented report, investigative journalist Christopher Ruddy answers that critical question. Ruddy, who has covered the case almost from the start, details the disturbing inconsistencies surrounding Foster's alleged suicide, chronicles the botched investigations, documents the frenzied illegal activity in the White House in the hours after Foster's death, and notes the persistent failure of mainstream media to ask the right questions.
Throughout his thorough investigation of the available forensic and circumstantial evidence, Ruddy weaves a disturbing tale of cover-ups, abuse of power, police and prosecutorial incompetence, and press indifference. His startling conclusion -- that despite the official line, Foster could not have killed himself in Fort Marcy Park -- will persuade even the most skeptical reader to demand a full public investigation into the mysterious circumstances of the death of Vincent Foster and the troubling events in its aftermath.
Customer Reviews:
Packed with facts and information!.......2007-06-19
I picked up this book not knowing much about Vincent Foster, or the scandals that surrounded the Clinton's. I was younger then, and now that Hillary is running for President I thought I should know.
Firstly, Ruddy should be commended for his exhaustive efforts in putting together an informative book. No doubt he has sifted through countless documents and interviews, and probably spent countless nights digesting all of it.
Pretty much after the first ten pages I knew Foster did not kill himself, which left me to wonder what the remaining 300 pages would consist of. This book has a LOT of information and at times it can feel overwhelming. I thought it might have felt less so had Ruddy separated his book into chapters by points of concern or contradiction, followed by facts backing up each point. I realize this approach is difficult, for Foster's death is murky and had it been easy to discern the truth the case would be solved by now. Instead Ruddy's book goes back and forth with events discussed previously resurfacing later.
One thing's for sure, you get more from Ruddy's book if you come in with some pre-knowledge of other key players: McDougals, Webster Hubbel, Craig Livingstone, Whitewater, Travelgate, even Bill and Hillary, to name a few! This book is like a piece of a puzzle that fits better when you have all the pieces. These people and cases are important and Ruddy doesn't necessarily fill you in with details, (it's a bit annoying at times, but it certainly cuts down on the length of his book). Ruddy does include a couple pages in the Appendix covering a bit about these people, as well as a few timelines that are helpful.
Overall, this is no novel, it's an investigate study packed with facts and information and you'll certainly have your fill of it.
Loved it, read it........2006-06-29
There are certain occurrences which come into play during the Clinton administration like so many deaths during his reign, Chinagate etc. Read this and look deeper than what is written.
Great book!.......2001-08-20
A fascinating account of yet another bungled White House cover-up. The author is to be commended not only for writing a compelling book but also for his excellent research skills. It is obvious from reading some of the negative reader reviews that many people write reviews without reading anything but the flyleaf. Books like these only make me more grateful to be a Canadian!
The Strange Death of the Truth.......2001-07-20
This book is nothing more than a compilation of hypothetical "what ifs." The author posits no evidence and does nothing more than simply spew forth his opinion that the Clintons are evil and therefore must be up to foul play. Treat this book like the hogwash that it is.
Disgusted.......2001-05-11
There is a reason why this book is so hard to find...there are people who dont want this information out there. I was glued to this book until I was finished. I always felt as if the story that the news media and the government gave us was acceptable until I read this book!

Book Description
The most pivotal and yet least understood event of Frank Lloyd Wright’s celebrated life involves the brutal murders in 1914 of seven adults and children dear to the architect and the destruction by fire of Taliesin, his landmark residence, near Spring Green, Wisconsin. Unaccountably, the details of that shocking crime have been largely ignored by Wright’s legion of biographers—a historical and cultural gap that is finally addressed in William Drennan’s exhaustively researched Death in a Prairie House: Frank Lloyd Wright and the Taliesin Murders.
In response to the scandal generated by his open affair with the proto-feminist and free love advocate Mamah Borthwick Cheney, Wright had begun to build Taliesin as a refuge and "love cottage" for himself and his mistress (both married at the time to others).
Conceived as the apotheosis of Wright’s prairie house style, the original Taliesin would stand in all its isolated glory for only a few months before the bloody slayings that rocked the nation and reduced the structure itself to a smoking hull.
Supplying both a gripping mystery story and an authoritative portrait of the artist as a young man, Drennan wades through the myths surrounding Wright and the massacre, casting fresh light on the formulation of Wright’s architectural ideology and the cataclysmic effects that the Taliesin murders exerted on the fabled architect and on his subsequent designs.
Customer Reviews:
"Enquiring minds want to know" journalism.......2007-05-14
Mixed view of this book. The author has dug deeply to unearth whatever facts are still out there about this tragedy. And, the story is compelling. However, I am bothered somewhat that recent books on Wright have focused soley on the sensational aspects of his life rather than the work which made him famous and which is still relevant today!
As for the content, I am not totally convinced by the timeline of events which he puts forth. However, he does convincingly demolish the long-standing, accepted version. That leaves some big questions which will probably never be answered. Finally, Bill (the author) has an irritating tendency to constantly refer to Frank Loyd Wright as "Frank". Bill needed a more competent editor.
Well Done.......2007-05-07
This is a fascinating book that is written in an interesting style The history of Frank Lloyd Wright and the Taliesin Murders in particular are well documented. Well worth the purchase.
This book has it all.......2007-05-03
William Drennan blends brutal murder, sensational scandal, exhaustive research and thought-provoking theory in this important book. A clear style and a flair for the mot juste make this book both scholarly and page-turning.
At last, an author has had the courage, persistence and skill to delve into Wisconsin's crime of the 20th century. It's a wonder no writer previously tackled this topic, given that it involves a horrific killing that claimed the paramour of America's foremost architect, as well as his signature home design, Taliesin. We're all fortunate Drennan accepted the challenge.
A Great Read!.......2007-04-26
Meticulously researched and thoughtfully presented, Death in a Prairie House is also a great read. I recommend it.
Exposing Feet of Clay Through a Tragedy.......2007-04-26
Those whose work we admire often are treated as though they can do no wrong. Frank Lloyd Wright certainly gets reverential treatment today, whether through retrospectives of his work, during tours of facilities he designed, or in long-term museum displays. Read what Wright had to say about himself and you also find that he was most impressed. Many of his apprentices were, too.
Professor Drennan does us the favor of helping us see the rest of what Wright was like . . . and it was often wrong.
A few years ago, my wife and I took a Wright vacation that enabled us to begin in the Chicago area and then move north into Wisconsin to see Taliesin and many of the works done by Wright in that state. In those brief few days, we could see that Wright had undergone some pretty amazing metamorphosis from the humble, practical elements of his Oak Park home and studio to the massive, unchurch-like but inexpensive, Unity Temple, to the magnificence of Robie House to the grandeur of grounds, view, and dominance of Taliesin. During the tours, a few words were mentioned about Wright taking off for Europe with the wife of one of his local clients . . . and a grisly murder ending the escapade. But as little was said as possible about these events.
When Death in a Prairie House came out, I couldn't wait to learn more. And Professor Drennan satisfied my curiosity about Wright's wandering off with a married woman, abandonment of his own family, and how it all ended in bloodshed and fire. Although Professor Drennan's specialty is English, he does a competent job of sifting through the evidence and correcting mischaracterizations that have grown up over the years.
That's the strength of the book. The book's main weakness is that it doesn't do enough to include Wright's work as an architect, especially after the Taliesin murders. You get this sense from the book of Wright as permanently closed off in his design work. But you could argue differently . . . that the seeds of the box-like designs were always present. Unity Temple has to be argument number one in favor of that view. The California boxes look a lot like Unity Temple. In addition, in those pre-air conditioning days, keeping sunlight out was a helpful way to keep interiors cool during the 100 degree plus days. At night, the air cools off in California and that cool air can be captured to keep the day pleasant if there aren't too many windows. Later, Wright designed the Usonian Style, a home meant to be built inexpensively by the owner. That, too, was boxlike, but mainly as a cost-saving measure. Taliesin West is just as grand in its own way as Taliesin was . . . even though Wright was broke when he built it. In the 30's, Wright developed a master plan for the whole United States in creating ideal communities. Also, Fallingwater and the Guggenheim were in Wright's future. Did the murders change him, or did they serve as a pause and change of focus into something he was always interested in? I suspect another scholar, who is involved in architecture, will have to answer those questions.
But it's clear from this book that Wright was such a narcissist that he allowed his ability to succeed as an architect to be harmed by his extended dalliance with free-love advocate, Mamah Borthwick Cheney. I thought that the final irony of the murders was that the fire destroyed the copies of Wright's designs that would have extended his influence decades sooner. Although Professor Drennan dismisses this point from the view of the murderer, there certainly is a moral in this story about the wages of sin that Wright and his lover paid.
Death in a Prairie House is well written, thorough in its exploration of the background to the murders and the events themselves, and a good story overall. I recommend you read it, particularly if you are a fan of Wright's architecture.

an emtional warm blanket.......2007-03-18
kim's book has been answered prayers for myself and many family members and friends.i cannot imagine how she was able to pick and choose through so many broken hearts to help us. i shed tears while reading this book both from grief and joy and allowed myself a sense of peace and understanding of transition that i had not learned even after a lifetime of critical care nursing. i appreciate the authors' respect for all life, and the different ways it is celebrated, mourned and honoured throughout the world. i appreciate greatly the biblical referances and the beautiful quotations. even though i miss my family greatly, i rejoice in knowing they will meet me at the rainbow bridge....thankyou kim, bless you and your work...looking forward to the next book....hurry!!!
Incredible book.......2007-03-16
Well researched, filled with warmth and compassion for all living beings. This book was heartwarming, informative and wonderful. Having just lost my two beloved dogs just over a year apart, I found Kim's words very comforting and healing. Thank you, Kim, for such an outstanding book on the subject of our beloved animals. Those of us who adore animals have truly full lives. Those who don't, perhaps will learn to love and respect animals from your words. Animals do have souls - they have a purpose in our lives. Thank you for teaching us, Kim. You've done an incredible job.
Animals & the Afterlife.......2007-02-08
Answers the question "of do I have my furry friends in the next world?" For pet lovers the next world without their pets doesn't sound like a heaven they would want to go to. I am so glad to know they will be there!
Best Book I've Ever Read.......2006-10-01
I can't really find the words to describe this book. It's not only well researched, well organized, and well written, but it's also an incredible reading experience. I felt that I was traveling on the author's journey right along with her, and I truly didn't want the journey to end. I usually skip around different books, skimming them for interesting facts, and dropping them if I become bored or disinterested. I can honestly say that this is the first book I've ever read that captivated me right from the very first sentence and kept me turning the pages right to the end. It opened not only my mind, but also my heart and soul. I was a hardened skeptic and expected to find a lot of information that I could dispute. However, by the time I reached the end, in light of all the profound and varied evidence presented throughout the book, I had become a believer. I'm now ordering a copy for a friend, as I don't want to relinquish mine! This is one of those books that you never forget, and once you've read them, your life is never the same. Highly recommended!
A Beautiful Book That Heals The Heart.......2006-10-01
I hope this book makes it to the bestseller list, because that's where it belongs. The author is a thorough researcher, a gifted writer, and most importantly, a truly compassionate person who cares about others. While reading the book, I felt as if she was right there with me, holding my hand, helping me through the turmoil of grief over the loss of my best friend in the whole world. If there are any saints living in the world today, she is definitely one of them. I don't know how I would have gotten through the loss of my beloved Angel without this book. I had never even heard of it, but thankfully, it was given to me as a gift, and now I have the honor of giving it to another dear friend who is dealing with loss. Everyone who loves animals (and even those who think they don't) would benefit immensely from reading this book.

Book Description
Isabelle Lee has a problem, and it's not just Ape Face, her sister, or group therapy for an eating disorder, or even that her father died and her mother is depressed and in denial. It's that Ashley, the most popular girl in school, is inviting Isabelle to join her at lunch and at sleepovers at her house, and this is presenting Isabelle with a dilemma. Pretty Ashley has moved Isabelle up the social ladder, but is it worth keeping the secret they share?
Caught in the orbit of popularity and appearances, Isabelle must navigate a world with mixed messages, false hopes, and potentially harmful turns, while coping with her own flailing family and emotions. The author brings a depth of characterization, humor, and a real adolescent's voice to this multileveled story about the desire to be perfect in an imperfect world.
Customer Reviews:
definitely perfect!.......2007-06-04
I really loved this book! Its about a thirteen year old girl named Isabelle Lee. Her father died about two years ago, and nothing has been okay since then. She has a depressed mother who cries herself to sleep and an annoying, lonely little sister. The thing is, nobody ever talks about the problems they have. Isabelle and her family try to pretend everything's always perfect, even when it's not. Sadness about her father leads Isabelle into binging and purging. When her little sister catches her making herself throw up, her mom makes her go to an eating disorder therapy group for teen girls. isabelle is shocked to see ashley, the most popular, "perfect" girl in school there. the two become good friends and they binge and purge together. Isabelle learns that Ashley's life is far from perfect. Even though Ashley seems so "together" on the outside, she struggles with body image, family issues, and schoolwork. I won't spoil the ending for you, but let's just say that Isabelle learns a lot of things. One, she learns that just because someone looks perfect on the outside, it doesn't always mean everything's okay for that person (like Ashley.) She also learns that saying everything is "fine" is just a coverup, and it's important to talk about things and not keep feelings bottled up. The author, Natalie Friend, is an incredible writer who seems to know exactly how teens think. Her words will make you laugh, cry, and pray for Natalie's family. I recommend this book for anyone in middle or high school. It's a really fantastic book!
Ok Book, Great Message.......2007-05-24
Perfect by Natasha Friend is about the eight grader Isabelle Lee. She and her family are still recovering from the death of their beloved father. Nothing has been the same since the funeral; his pictures stripped from the walls and a mother who cries herself to sleep every night. Then there is "Group", which Isabelle attends after her sister, April (or known as Ape Face) tells on Isabelle when she is caught making herself throw up. Unhappily she goes to "Group" and is quite surprised when the most popular girl in her grade, Ashley Barnum, goes with the same problem. The two quickly become good friends as Isabelle fights her addiction and tries to make things right at home.
I think this book was ok, really gross, but ok. I never understood why people would make themselves sick like that but this book has shown me that people who believe their lives are too messed up; they turn to something that distracts them from the things that go bad in their life. I saw how addicting it was and how hard it is for people to stop, even when they know they are hurting themselves and those they love. I am happy with the ending and I think this would be a good book for teenage girls to read.
perfect is deffinitally unperfect...........2007-05-15
umm this book is horrible..this book has hints for having an eating disorder if you want your kid having problems like isabelles then get your kid this book.. but if you dont want your kid having to deal with balemia and almost getting raped then dont let our child read this bookk...

How far would you go to get the PERFECT body? How far would you get?
Isabelle Eliza Lee is a 13 year old dealing with the pains of losing a father, listening to her mother cry herself to sleep at night, an ape-face for a sister, a newly developed eating disorder, and a new best friend who shares her problem and also happens to be the most popular girl in 8th grade.
Isabelle goes to "Eating Disorder and Body Image Therapy Group" as part of the "DEAL" with her depressed mother and recognizes a familiar face in which she soon befriends.
The genre of Perfect is realistic fiction and is highly recommended for young adults 13 and up. This story is a real page turner and it will have you rooting to see Isabelle succeed!
Maryna's Review.......2007-05-01
Perfect
Perfect is a fiction book of friendship that might never happen in life. The 172-page book
written by Natasha Friend explains to teenager girls that friendship could happen between
different personalities. The publisher of this book is the Molkweed Edition.
Isabelle Lee misses her father a lot after he died, but when her little sister, April, catches
Isabelle trowimg up in the bathroom, and tells their mom that Isabelle has an eating disorder,
everythinng changes. Now Isabelle has to attend the "Eating Disorder and Body Image Therapy
Group" and cope with other people, but when she saw the most popular girl in school there,
Ashley, she started to hang out with her all the time.
I like this book personally, because the author uses dialogue to show a conversation
between the characters. The author uses small words in the book and the book is really easy to
read. Some parts of the book are really sad. Every time April asked Isabelle if she missed her
dad, Isabelle always said: "Of course I do! Very much!" I think that part was very touching every
time it was in the story. I would also miss my dad if he was not with my family anymore. Finally,
I like the book because the book is told like it is a real story. All the events are so cool. Isabelle
has friends and goes to school like any other girl. This book tells a story of almost every ordinary
girl. Lots of kids are without thir parents and they miss them so much. There is actually nothing to
dislike about the book, because I think that it was really good and others should read it!
A freelance writer and camp director, Natasha Friend has taught at the Brearley School in
New York City and Ecole Bilingue in Cambridge, but she lives in Massachusetts with her husband
Erik, and baby, Jack. She loves spending time with her family. Perfect is her first novel, but later
she wrote a book called Lush and she wrote Bounce. Lush is also a book about a 13-year-old girl.
Natasha Friend just loves to write novels about a girl. She loves her job on the books and hopes
to write more.
This book receives 99 percent out of 100 from me because of amazing explanations
about an eating disorder, family, and also friends. Girls would most likely be interested in
this book, because it shows what a girl's life can be like between friends and family!

Product Description
Lea and Nym are two insect friends who live underwater in a marsh. They play and have fun. Sometimes, they argue. Then one night, Lea does not come home. Nym searches the marsh for her, but Lea is gone. While sleeping, Nym discovers that her friend has died. Through a vision or dream, Nym receives a comforting glimpse of what Lea has become.
Follow the struggles that Nym endures when her friend disappears. Experience the beauty and hope in Lea's transformation and in the natural cycles of life. In the process, adults can express their views about life and death while helping children learn about loss and change.
The following is an excerpt from the book: While Nym slept, she heard Lea's voice saying, "Follow me, Nym. I'm going to show you where I am." "Will I see you again?" Nym asked. "Only when it's time for you to die too," Lea replied. "You won't see me in the marsh ever again. But let me show you what I will look like the next time you see me. Here, close your eyes." Nym closed her eyes. "Now look at me," Lea said. Nym opened her eyes and saw ...

Jewel's Reading Excellence Review.......2007-05-10
John Adams brilliantly invites the reader into the world of Nymphs and Dragonflies to explore the changes that take place when Nym's friend goes to a special place. When I had lost a family member I had read a wonderful story called, "The Water Bug Story." John Adams adds a fresh approach to this story by focusing on friendship loss and giving a voice to his characters. With the help of Gibson's eye-catching nature illustrations, "The Dragon Fly Door" answers general questions surrounding loss, such as feelings about loss, what happens to the nymph's body when he dies, and how a nymph is transformed into a dragonfly. Adams creatively normalizes typical friendship rivalry and takes the reader on a nature journey to discover that one chooses to resolve conflict, loss, and changes in different ways. Adams lists uncomplicated educational facts at the end for the inquisitive science mind. This is a great educational tool for parents, grandparents or professionals to use to help explain the uncontrollable life cycle changes and loss.
A Message of Hope for Children Who Are Grieving.......2007-02-26
As President of a nonprofit organization that reaches out to those who are grieving, I was very pleased to read a book such as The Dragonfly Door. This book provides a much needed way to offer children (and adults) a message of hope following the death of a loved one.
Children can relate to the playful nature of Nym and Lea who are the two young nymph friends, the sorrow of Nym when Lea dies, and the comforting feeling when when Nym realizes that he will one day see Lea again as a dragonfly, when he too has made his transformation into a dragonfly.
Our nonprofit organization recommends this book so highly that we have decided to make it available for purchase at all of our events.

Beautiful and excellent for all who grieve.......2007-02-18
I received this wonderfully beautiful book on the 8th anniversary of my son's graduation to Heaven ... that evening, I was able to read it with his daughter, who is now 9... I believe she gained another understanding of her Very Own Daddy in a beautiful place that we have not seen just yet ... and though she already knew he is waiting for her, this was another good reminder of that ... I was unaware of the dragonfly's life cycle and was so blessed to see how it seemingly parallels this life and the next. Thank you, John, for a wonderful way to help us all in our continuing journey with grief and the Hope we can have.

Do-it-yourself grief counseling..........2006-08-19
This book helped me tremendously in coping with the death of my dog. It addressed every feeling and question I have surrounding the euthanasia. It also has chapters on lost pets and re-homing which would be very helpful for anyone in that circumstance.
If you are reading this, you probably need the book. Good luck to you, I hope you will be able to resolve your grief issues.

Killer.......2006-05-14
This book was so awesome. I have trouble finding books that I actually enjoy reading. This one, is an exeption. It is just so different from all the other books that I have encountered. The way that it is written is just so enjoyable to read. I read this book in 3 days. Not because it was easy...no...no...because I couldn't put the book down! I was even up in the middle of the night JUST to finish it! This is an totally killer book, i highly reccommend it for teens, especially those who don't find reading "fun", because this book'll change your mind!!!
THE BEST BOOK EVER!!!!!.......2006-03-25
I loved this book, I was laughing the whole way through, especially when Mark decides to get drunk and order a prostitute :) and Ted is the one whose dying.
We love this book........2005-04-16
Fun, Fun, Fun!
My friend Joe loves DANIEL EHRENHAFT.
And, now, I do, too. Great!
"Fun and thought-provoking".......2005-04-14
I absolutely love this book. It's funny in a sad sense, and sad in a funny sense...
I want to live my life to the fullest like Ted Burger.
Not what I thought!.......2005-04-14
From the title you assume the character is going to die. Ted Burger is somewhat your typical teenager. He plays the guitar likes the group "shakes the clown, and is a bit of a clown himself. On average day he hangs out with his best friend Mark and Mark's girlfriend Nikki. After school they usually hang out at the Circle Eat diner. One day it so happen the cook who worked there and was eventually fired came back and told them he poison the fries and whoever eats them will die of a fast death. Since Ted usually order fries and was starting to feel sick he begins to belive the cook and so he starts telling you how it feels to be dying and knowing you have lest than 24 hours. It took me reading practically midway to realise perhaps he is not going to die.Ted eventually begins having a list that his friend Mark put together of things Ted should do before he dies. In conclusion as said before I started reading it thinking it was going to be sad because of the character death only to find out its a tongue in cheek book about death. In the end I did not really enjoy this book.I felt the author was making a joke about death which I do not see as funny.

"Poignant keepsake for the grief stricken pet owner. The Author of My Angels Wear Fur has written another book that is impossible to put down."
Amazing. Incredibly helpful. A wonderful resource........2007-02-04
This was the only thing that helped me heal after the death of my sweet cat, Smudgie. I was in SUCH pain until I bought this book, just on a whim. I read it one night, and didn't really imagine it would be as helpful as it was. The next morning, it was the first morning I felt I could get out of bed. I've bought about 40 copies since to have on hand to give to people who are suffering from the loss of a precious pet. It's so painful and nobody seems to understand. I've had people react as though I'd gotten a flat tire, or something. The authors of this wonderful book clearly understand.

Revised and updated for 2003, it provides new research information and new articles and poems by parents who've lost children to SIDS and other deaths such as suffocation. Helpful Resource For Grieving Families .......2007-01-03
Horchler and Rice give comfort, encouragement, and insight to the issues that surround Sudden Infant Death Syndrome and Infant Death. Families who have suffered the devastating loss of a baby will find many questions they may have answered among the pages. The topics covered bring a sense of normalcy and healing to the bereaved as the authors guide the reader down the path of surviving their loss and again finding joy in living.
A Life Saver.......2001-11-12
The SIDS Survival Guide was my beacon of light during the darkest part of my life. My son, Dominic, passed away from SIDS on April 10, 2001, at only 4 1/2 months young. I began to reach out and search for all the information I could find on SIDS, drinking it all in by the bucket. A few months after he died, I found "The SIDS Survival Guide", and am so incredibly thankful. There was so much information, so many stories so like my own. I shed many tears while reading it for the first time, and even now, when I go back to read sections, I still cry. I am now expecting our second child in June 2002, and am scared to death. But knowing that I am informed about SIDS is somewhat of a comfort to me; in a way, I am as prepared as I can ever be. I would recommend this book to anyone expecting a child, who has a young baby, or knows someone who is or does.
Sanity check.......2001-02-17
My husband and I lost our son to SIDS in September of 2000. Our souls have been torn. The grieving process over his death has been draining. I recall little over the past 4+ months since his death. The one thing I do recall is thinking I was going crazy. I had wished their was another SIDS survivor I could speak with. Someone who could possibly relate to what my husband and I were going through. Someone who could understand our emotions. I searched under the keyword SIDS and found this book. I have not read the book in its entirety. I have read the sections I have needed at the particular times in my grieving. This book has helped me confirm that I am not going crazy. What I am feeling, though very personal, is normal. I feel this book is a neccesity for any parent who has to suffer this terrible tragedy. I have placed an order of these books in my babies memory to send to my state SIDS Coordinator in hopes that other parents may find comfort in its contents. Thank you Joani and Robin.
Very good source of information about SIDS.......1999-12-05
This book is one of the best for SIDS information
A must read for all who are touched by SIDS.......1998-12-30
This book touches on all the areas of SIDS that bereaved parents go through. Parents and grandparents will benefit from reading this. The personal stories give insight into others' grief and could help the reader feel a connection with the authors of the stories. It will make the reader feel they are not alone in their grief. The poems in this book are also very helpful in reaching into personal feelings that surround a SIDS death. The book has sections on what SIDS is, parent's grief, children dealing with a sibling's death, grandparent's grief, subsequent children and the decisions surrounding the questions of what to do next. Including ideas on surviving special days. This book will also be helpful to professionals that help bereaved parents.
(Another helpful book on SIDS is "Still to be Born" : A Guide For Bereaved Parents Who Are Making Decisions About Their Future written by Pat Schwiebert, RN.)
